The new World Champion 89 blade series is something very special. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Swedish team’s World Championship victory in 1989 in Dortmund (historic 5:0 final win against China), DONIC presents three new blades dedicated to the legends Jan-Ove Waldner, Jörgen Persson, and Mikael Appelgren. These are exclusively manufactured in Germany — crafted by master hands, with the highest precision and the latest technology — just like how the three Swedish superstars played.

Materials & Manufacturing

• All three models use a more than 200-year-old Italian spruce veneer as the top layer.

• The core consists of a 3 mm thick Kiri wood.

• Additional layers of spruce veneers, or for the Appelgren All+ model, additionally Ayous and an innovative carbon fleece-Zylon fabric (CFZ), produced exclusively for DONIC.

• Use of high-quality saw veneers produced in-house, which are more stable than conventional knife-cut veneers and preserve the playing characteristics of the blade much longer without material fatigue.

• A specially developed drying process reduces the moisture content of the woods from 12–16% to only 4%.

• This makes the blades especially stable and light (Waldner and Persson approx. 85 g, Appelgren All+ approx. 80 g).

• Each blade undergoes a 24-hour cold pressing process.

• Unique 3D technology shapes the handle ergonomically perfect and flawlessly rounded.
